In an effort to recognize excellence and provide meaningful support to our magnet
programs, we are implementing a new Color Rating System this year, aligned with the
National Magnet Standards and Pillars. These ratings will help SIS, Regional teams, and the
Central Office identify programs that demonstrate strong performance as well as those that
may benefit from additional guidance and resources. Please note that programs remaining in
the lowest color rating for two or more consecutive years may be considered for closure.

Color Rating Scale

Blue – The program demonstrates excellence through rigorous, theme-integrated instruction,
strong student outcomes, and well-established pathways that reflect a comprehensive, high-
quality magnet model.

Green – The magnet program shows solid performance and continued growth toward
excellence, with evidence of improvement in theme integration, instruction, and student
achievement.

Yellow – The program is responsive to change, demonstrating flexibility and innovation while
strengthening consistency in implementation and results. Programs in this category are
functioning effectively overall but may have one or two areas identified for targeted.

Orange – The program is developing foundational structures and benefits from targeted
coaching and support to improve theme alignment, instructional quality, and overall program
effectiveness. There are multiple areas identified for targeted improvement, or a corrective
action has been issued to address specific concerns.
• Secondary programs will receive their ratings at the beginning of the second semester.
• Elementary programs will receive their ratings at the end of the second semester.
